What You Need To Know About Reiki Energy Healing
Q&A
What Is Reiki?
Reiki Therapy, which originated in Japan, is a natural therapy that uses healing energy to increase well-being and support healing. Mikao Usui developed reiki in 1900s, delivering the term from Japanese words rei/universal and ki/life force energy. Reiki practitioner uses their hands to deliver energy to your body, helping to increase your healing energy supply.
What Conditions Does Reiki Treat?
Reiki works on spiritual, mental, physical and emotional wellbeing. Reiki may help with: cancer, chronic pain, digestive problems, anxiety and stress. Reiki compliments other types of traditional medical and therapeutic treatments but should not be used to replace them.
How Does Reiki Work?
During Reiki session, you’ll lie on a massage table fully clothed, as your Reiki practitioner gently places their hands, palms down, on or just above your body in specific energy locations. The goal of the session is relaxation, so there likely won’t be much talking, it’s important, however, that you tell the practitioner if you need any adjustments at any point during the session.
Is Reiki Good For Mental Health?
One of the primary benefits of a Reiki session is relaxation. When we relax, our muscles become less tense, and our blood pressure, heart and respiratory rate become lower. This response is the opposite of the "fight or flight" stress response. Reiki session jump-starts your body's self-healing response, assisting the body in releasing tensions, boosting detoxification, and stabilizing mental and emotional states.
What Reiki Feels Like?
During Reiki therapy practitioner’s hands will often get warm as a result of the flow of energy and the recipients may feel Reiki energy as well. The recipient often feels heat or coolness, tingling sensations, numbness, throbbing and sleepiness. However, all of these sensations can be very subtle and maybe overlooked by recipient.
